Peter Klasen was born in Lubeck, Germany in 1935. He is one of the founders of the artistic movement called "New figuration" or "narrative figuration". He then develops a personal plastic language, exploring and reinterpreting the signs of our urban environment, and more generally of our society.
The industrial theme has a profound impact on his work. In Peter Klasen's paintings, we find elements such as pressure gauges, construction machinery sheets, metal locks, truck tarpaulins... You can also recognize logos, numbers and photos from magazines or posters.
